Developing theory-practice models of methodology (epistemology)
The Centre has become known for its original thinking about methodology in the areas of:
- popularising social science and developmental evaluation;
- how to carry out research ‘with’ people rather than ‘on’ them;
- the ethical and methodological concept of the ‘critical reference group' perspective;
- the Australian use of ‘fourth generation evaluation’ or ‘constructivist’ methodology including ‘dialogue across difference’ designs;
- the nature of inquiry groups;
- the place and role of the facilitating ‘researcher’ or ‘evaluator’; and
- the ‘building in’ of research and evaluation to the culture of whole living human ‘systems’.
