Developing theory-practice models of methodology (epistemology)

The Centre has become known for its original thinking about methodology in the areas of:

  • popularising social science and developmental evaluation;
  • how to carry out research ‘with’ people rather than ‘on’ them;
  • the ethical and methodological concept of the ‘critical reference group' perspective;
  • the Australian use of ‘fourth generation evaluation’ or ‘constructivist’ methodology including ‘dialogue across difference’ designs;
  • the nature of inquiry groups;
  • the place and role of the facilitating ‘researcher’ or ‘evaluator’; and
  • the ‘building in’ of research and evaluation to the culture of whole living human ‘systems’.
